Designed to evoke the ‘uneven clicks of skating over brick and the unpredictable nature of navigating the Five Boroughs’, Grand Collection’s noted NYC-spun aesthetic taps into the brand’s cityscape roots and its admirable balancing of urbanised utilitarianism. Pairing with legendary Manchester-based Umbro for SS20, Grand Collection fuses sporting heritage with skating function to celebrate premium-grade attire in its rawest form. Keeping aesthetics classic and true to form, Grand Collection turns to season-friendly colourings in the shade of both black and forest-green for inspiration; a colour pairing that remains forever-loyal to Umbro’s OG pitch-side kit days. Design matched track-jackets, sweatpants and t-shirts round the collection off neatly with Umbro’s iconic double-diamond and checkerboard satin blocking delivering a playful ode to yesteryear ‘90s sports culture.

With the brand’s journey starting in 2016 after the debut of their Naomi Campbell referencing ‘Naomi’ short-form featuring the likes of DesArmo, Champion, Kevin Tierney and Adam Zhu, Grand Collection continues to pair ‘simple iconography’ with familiar grains to deliver a ‘new, recent and relevant’ aesthetic to the ever-evolving market. References to founder Ben Oleynik’s Canadian upbringing take shape in the brand’s go-to goose logo, whilst references to the East Coast’s emerging skate-scene of the ‘90s honours the brand’s city-based ventures.
